Simple, friendly and comfortable stay in the heart of Galway
Host was exceptionally friendly and welcoming! Made us feel very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a two night stay (toiletries etc). Great location, quiet area, walking distance from centre. Easy to access property at all times. Cozy guest house. Room is clean, a bit small, and the bed is too soft for my preference. Staff is nice and friendly, if you run into them. Breakfast is basic, and there is no freshly-brewed coffee 😭. I love the availability of hot water and ice 24h. Check in is hassle free. Parking is free but very limited (only 4 spots) and somewhat tight. A good walking distance (8-15mins) to the bustling area, yet still quiet and close to the train/bus station. Long walk to the West End of Galway or Salthill tho. Good value overall!Read moreRead less

I can't not say enough about the proprietor, his family, and every person who diligently and deftly clean and prepare the breakfast area for their guests. A perfect location next to Yeats College and minutes from downtown Galway - EYRE SQUARE. Avalon House was a great choice. Breakfast was great as it included a variety of foods. They even sent me away with hard boiled eggs as I was running late to catch the train.
